Create awareness and raise knowledge about Portuguese wines in Spain are the main objectives of the initiative of the Wines of Portugal Academy. The actions will be held in 10 cities in Spain and it is intended to reach 300 trainees. The project starts on January 15 in Madrid. The Wines of Portugal Academy is part of the strategy to strengthen the education and promotion of the Wines of Portugal brand in the Spanish market, in particular among sommeliers, who play a key role in advising and recommending wines to hotel and catering professionals as well as to final customers. The courses will be taught by Sofia Salvador, ViniPortugal's Wine Educator, and Sara Peñas, Sommelier and Wine Educator at the best Spanish educational institutions. The first session, led by Sofia Salvador, will be held on January 15 at the Escuela de Hostelaría de Madrid from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The remaining sessions, given by Sara Peñas, will be held on dates and places to be announced soon. Each training, certified with the Initiation Level of the Wines of Portugal Academy, will last three hours and will show the reality of Portuguese wines, namely types of wines, grape varieties, regions, climates and soils, wine tasting and their excellent capacity for gastronomic harmonization.
