The next stop for the Wines of Portugal is Brazil, where the 11th edition of the 'Wines of Portugal in Brazil' event is taking place, the largest Portuguese wine event in the country, organized in partnership with the newspapers Público, O Globo and Valor Econômico and with the support of Turismo de Portugal.
One of the main objectives of this event is to win over a new audience that appreciates Portuguese wines. As usual, the event will take place in two different cities, Rio de Janeiro, on June 7, 8 and 9, at the Brazilian Jockey Club, a venue that offers large, open spaces, with a privileged view of Corcovado, an attractive factor for the public and which will harmonize perfectly with Portuguese wines.
The second phase of the event will take place in the city of São Paulo, on June 13, 14 and 15, and this time the venue chosen was the São Paulo Biennial Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and a historical heritage site, a landmark of Brazilian architecture and one of the symbols of the city's cultural life. A change of venue that will bring even more notoriety to the Wines of Portugal in Brazil event.
Throughout this initiative, which will provide an opportunity for informal contact between visitors and Portuguese producers, other moments to promote Portuguese wines are planned, such as an exclusive tasting for professionals, the “tomar um copo” (have a glass) initiatives, commented tastings, pairings and many convivial moments.
Frederico Falcão, President of Wines of Portugal, said: “We are very excited about the 11th edition of the Wines of Portugal event in Brazil. This event has proved to be a crucial platform for promoting the diversity and quality of Portuguese wines in the Brazilian market, which has an even more significant reach due to the partnership with the newspapers Público, O Globo and Valor Econômico and also with Turismo de Portugal, which will provide all participants with a journey through the charms of our country through wines. In this initiative we intend not only to bring consumers closer to professionals in the sector, but also to win over new connoisseurs of Portuguese wine.”
The 2023 edition had 11,000 visitors, 32 special tastings and 40 “tomar um copo” over the six days of the event, making it one of the biggest wine experiences in all of Brazil. For this year's edition, 34 tastings of Portuguese wines and 47 “tomar um copo” are planned.
Participation in this event is part of Wines of Portugal promotion plan and its main objective is to create new business opportunities in the Brazilian market. The Interprofessional Wine Association intends to continue its work promoting Portuguese wines and Portugal as a “hot spot” in the international wine world.
