About the PCWA - The spirit behind the PCWA is simple - to give consumers the opportunity to vote for the wines they like best (along with wine professionals) by making them part of the process, rather than excluded from it. The terminology and categories focus on "wine drinking moments" and are therefore more meaningful to the wine consumer, and are also more appealing to wines from around the world, in any packaging format and at any price point. The results help consumers make better purchasing decisions and help retailers understand what their customers want and ultimately sell more wine.

Why was the presence of the Wines of Portugal brand important?

  • To increase the visibility of the Wines of Portugal brand in the UK market, both for professionals and consumers;
  • Competition aimed at Portuguese producers looking to sell to the UK, offering them a new route to market.

About the New to Market Categories:

These categories (Red, White, Sparkling and Fortified) are only for Producers who do not yet have distribution in the UK market and are therefore looking for representation in that market directly or indirectly.

In the 2021 edition, Wines of Portugal had the opportunity to be present in the New to Market categories (reds and whites)
