Some of the finest Portuguese wines will be on show until the 12th of November at ProWine China 2020, the largest wine event in the country, and one of the most important in the world. 14 representatives of Portuguese wine producers will present at the “Wines of Portugal”stand , the seal of ViniPortugal for the promotion of Portuguese wine in international markets. The main goal of this promotional activity is to raise awareness and knowledge of Portuguese wines among professionals in the Chinese market. ProWine China 2020 is an excellent opportunity for ViniPortugal to introduce new wines and producers from world wine destinations to a growing market. The President of ViniPortugal, Frederico Falcão explains that “in 2020, the wine sector has suffered months of uncertainty and disruption. While we strive to build a 'new normal' in the fight against the pandemic, “Wines of Portugal” is committed to invigorating the Chinese wine market. Support for ProWine 2020 is one such effort. We will certainly do our utmost to strengthen our position in this market". Producers Encosta de Alqueva, Henriques & Henriques, Justino’s Madeira, Lavradores de Feitoria, Madeira Wine Company, Mouchão, Enoport, Pereira D’Oliveira, Quinta do Paral, Quinta do Silval, The Loyalty Wine Family, Vidigal Wines e Wine & Soul – Maritávora are currently at the Wines of Portugal stand. To facilitate the dialogue between visitors and national producers, “Wines of Portugal” has created an innovative WeChat Mini Program, through which distributors and wine professionals can arrange meetings with Portuguese wine producers. "Portuguese wine producers are proud of their more than 250 native grapes, their centuries of wine-growing culture, as well as their tradition of blended wines. These wines offer a unique experience by taking advantage of the diversity of Portuguese terroirs and grape varieties. Our stand at ProWine China 2020 would be a great starting point for attendees to taste the world of difference offered by Portuguese wines”, says Frederico Falcão. China is one of the key markets to diversify the promotional activity of the “Wines of Portugal” brand. The value of wine exports (excluding Port and Madeira) exceeded 17 million euros in 2019. Data from 2020 shows that, between January and August, the total number of Portuguese wine exports to the Chinese market reached 7 million euros, with IGP wine being the most successful category.
