Portuguese wines shine on Swiss market
The excellence of Portuguese wines will be shown in Switzerland with two events in Zurich and Geneva on 22nd and 23rd October, respectively. More than 100 Portuguese producers will present their wines to professionals of the sector, journalists and consumers. Identifying new business opportunities and strengthening relations with Swiss market professionals are the central objectives of these actions. To follow up on the positive trajectory that Portuguese wines are having on this market, ViniPortugal promotes the "Wines of Portugal" Grand Wine Tasting on October 22 at the X-Tra Hotel in Zurich, in partnership with Vinum magazine. This event will count with the presence of about 57 Portuguese producers, and 300 visitors are expected to visit, among professionals from the sector, journalists and final consumers. Preceding the event, exclusive one-hour consumer and professional seminars will be organized by Ursula Geiger, publisher of Vinum magazine. On the following day, October 23, it is the turn of Geneva to receive the "Wines of Portugal" Grand Wine Tasting, which will be held at the Richemond Hotel. This event will be attended by about 46 Portuguese producers, who will show their wines to an estimated audience of 200 people. The event in Geneva includes a Wines Academy of Portugal and a seminar, both led by David Scharzwalder, journalist and wine expert from Portugal. Identified as one of the 14 priority markets in ViniPortugal's 2018 promotional strategy, which has the "Wines of Portugal" brand as a seal, Switzerland has a growing importance for Portuguese wines. According to data from the Institute of Vine and Wine (IVV), the Swiss market accounted for 29,210 million Euros in 2017, representing growth of 1.3% over the previous year.
