Portugal brings together more than 370 producers in the largest wine fair in the world

"Wines of Portugal" brand will feature at ProWein 2018 in Dusseldorf
The new proposals and trends of Wines of Portugal will be presented in ProWein 2018, the largest world event in the wine sector. From March 18 to 20, more than 370 Portuguese producers will promote the excellence of Portuguese wines. ViniPortugal is committed to the raise knowledge and create awareness about the brand "Wines of Portugal" in one of the biggest showrooms in the world. The participation also includes a vast program of seminars, with internationally renowned speakers, targeted to professionals in the area of gastronomy and commerce as well as international journalists. During the fair, visitors will also have the opportunity to taste about 80 selected wines at the ViniPortugal stand, distinguished with awards in national and international competitions, representative of several national wine regions, from Vinho Verde to Alentejo. ViniPortugal's program at ProWein 2018 includes 18 seminars, which will be attended by internationally renowned speakers such as Caro Maurer MW and Carine Patricio, sommelier at the Jellyfish restaurant. In turn, Christina Fischer and Patrick Jabs will tackle the gastronomic harmonization with Portuguese wines, presenting suggestions of combination with different dishes of international food. Also worth mentioning is the participation of the Portuguese speaker António Graça, who will lead the seminar "Portugal's sustainable winemaking innovations tradition", on the theme of sustainability and preservation of the native grape varieties, and for the wine educator of ViniPortugal Sofia Salvador, which will guide two seminars dedicated to presenting the singularity of the Portuguese wines. According to a study developed by ProWein organization in collaboration with the University of Geisenheim, Portugal was the 7th country most pursued in the 2017 edition of ProWein. The study, which consulted about 1500 wine experts from 46 countries on international markets, marketing trends and development of wine sales channels, revealed that 17% of respondents showed interest in including Portuguese wines in the product range. The analysis showed that Portugal ranked 4th in international retailers (21%), behind Germany, Spain and Italy, and the second place in the opinion of the German retailers (26%), only behind Austria, to extend the product range with wines from new countries. According to data from the Institute of Vine and Wine (IVV), Germany is the 6th largest destination market in value, with a value of € 47m in 2017, representing a growth over the previous year of 8, 1% in value. In terms of structure and weight of each category of wine exported, PDO wine represents Portugal's largest export share to Germany (53%), followed closely by the Liquor Wines with PDO - Porto and Madeira (28% ).

A ViniPortugal realizou Fórum Anual dos Vinhos de Portugal no Teatro José Lúcio da Silva, em Leiria, no dia 28 de Novembro.

O Programa deste ano debateu a “Situação actual do sector”, abordou o “Plano Estratégico 2030”, a apresentação pelo IVV dos dados mais recentes das Exportações bem como a evolução do mercado nacional. Como habitualmente dermos a conhecer os Planos Sectoriais de Promoção Internacional para o ano de 2025, articulados entre a ViniPortugal e as Entidades Certificadoras.
