ViniPortugal participates once again at ProWine China, a renowned international wine fair, held from 14 to 16 November in Shanghai, China. This year, ProWine will bring together 28 Portuguese producers, who will occupy an area of 132 square meters of the event's premises. Affirming the quality and excellence of Portuguese wines in one of the international markets with the greatest growth potential is the main objective of the national delegation. ProWine China plays a key role in the international wine scenery, providing contact between producers, importers, prescribers and influencers of the sector and an opportunity to generate and strengthen business in the Asian market. For ViniPortugal, ProWine is a strategic bet to raise the awareness and knowledge about the Portuguese wines to audiences available to meet new wines and producers from wine destinations in affirmation. China is one of the most important markets for the diversification of the promotional activity of the Wines of Portugal brand. In 2016 it represented more than 17.5 million euros in value for national exports, representing an increase of 23.4% in value over last year. In 2016, China was the 14th destination of the total exports of Portuguese wines, ranking in the top-10 of the quiet wine destinations. In 2016 Portugal also positioned itself in the top-10 in the supply of bottled wines from China.
