Wines of Portugal stand out at Mundus Vini 2017

Two Portuguese wines won Grand Gold Medals in the Germany's most important wine competition.
The wines Conde d 'Ervideira Branco Reserve Alentejo DOC 2016 and Quinta do Cume Tinto Grande Reserva 2014 were awarded with two Grand Gold medals and were considered the best red wine and best white wine from Portugal in competition. 151 medals was the positive result for the Portuguese wines participation in the 2017 Summer Tasting of the Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Award. In total, Portuguese wines collected 69 gold medals and 80 silver medals in the wine competition with a lineup of more than 4,300 wines. Portugal was the fourth best country in competition which was led by Italy. The most awarded Portuguese wine regions were Douro with 24 medals and Alentejo with 15 medals. A 150 strong international jury tasted and judged wines from almost 42 winegrowing countries. Mundus Vini was founded 15 years ago by Meininger Verlag publishing house and has become one of the world's most significant wine competitions. Since 2014 the international competition, which takes place according to the international tasting guidelines of the OIV, has been held twice a year. Check the full list of winners here.
