The excellence of the Portuguese wines will be celebrated today in the Pousada Convento de Arraiolos. During the event will be presented the Great Gold medals and the Best Wines of the Year. The Secretary of State for Agriculture and Alimentation, Luís Medeiros Vieira, will participate in the ceremony. The choice of the Portuguese wines results of an evaluation composed by two phases. In a first moment more than 1390 Portuguese wines were evaluated in technical blind tastings, made by 110 national and international specialists in the CNEMA, in Santarém. After this first selection, the Grand Jury, composed by international reference judges, gather in Évora, and select the best of these wines to award with the Grand Gold and Best of the Year awards. The Wines of Portugal Challengeis increasingly becoming a meeting point and exchange of experiences between national and international producers and specialists and a barometer of quality wine.
