From 19 to 21 March the Portuguese wines will be highlighted in the largest event of the wine sector in Germany
Prowein, the largest event of the wine sector, will receive once again the Portuguese wines, from 19 to 21 March, in Dulsseldorf. This edition will present new projects and trends from Portugal. This year ViniPortugal has a superior area compared to 2016. More than 350 Portuguese winemakers will be exposing their wines. This year Wines of Portugal stand will have a wine tasting area and as the previous years a program with seminars of varied themes. Portugal is positioned among the wine countries with important interest in the international scenario and continues to record a consistent growth in the German market. The still wines exports increased by 9.7%, however the fortified wines exports, in particular Oporto, only increased by 1.7%. Germany is currently the second market in terms of import value, just after the United States. The ViniPortugal stand at Prowein will have a free tasting area (Hall 10 / C02) and offers visitors more than 80 selected wines, awarded in national and international competitions. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk and meet with wine producers in the numerous individual presentation areas. The program also includes about 20 seminars that will approach varied themes target to different types of audiences like gastronomy, commerce and press. The panels will feature internationally renowned speakers such as Caro Maurer MW or Justin Leone, sommelier at the Tantris restaurant. Also noteworthy for Christina Fischer and Patrick Jabs who will approach the harmonization with Portuguese wines, presenting dishes that combine with Portuguese wines. For those looking for new trends, the seminar "Young Winemakers - Living Tradition Through Innovation" will be very interesting. Among the national speakers is António Graça who will address "Portugal World of Difference" and the seminar "Wine and Moderation", which will address the issue of wine consumption and social responsibility. Graça, oenologist, founder and director of PORVID - Portuguese Association for the Diversity of Grapevine. 17.00 "Young winemakers: Increase of tradition through innovation" with Sofia Salvador, winemaker of Portugal. Monday, March 20 10.00 "Lisbon Family Vineyards @ lisbonfamilyvineyards" with Sandra Tavares, James Frost, António Maçanita and Francisco Bento dos Santos. 11.00 "Along the Atlantic coast - from Vinho Verde to Algarve" with Caro Maurer Master Wine wine journalist. 12.00 "White wines from the Dão wine region" with David Schwarzwälder, journalist and expert on Portuguese wines. 13.00 "Portuguese red wines - Great companions in gastronomy" with Christina Fischer, Sommelier and wine writer and Patrick Jabs, Chef and author. 14.00 "Red Wines from Lisbon wine region" with David Schwarzwälder, journalist and expert on Portuguese wines. 15.00 "White Wines That Touch My Soul" with Justin Leone, Sommelier. 16.00 "The exciting unknown secrets of Península de Setúbal " with Joel B. Payne, journalist and founding member of the European Grand Jury. 17.00 "Sustainable winemaking in Portugal innovates the tradition" with António R.
