Encruzado grape variety performs a wine tasting in Porto
2 November 16
Manuel Moreira will lead the Dão wine tasting, next Friday, 4th November, starting at 6.30pm, in Porto Tasting Room
The wines from Dão wine region made from Encruzado grape variety will be on the spotlight of the next wine tasting in Porto, led by Manuel Moreira. The initiative, promoted by ViniPortugal together with the CVR of Dão, will highlight the potential of such a rich and noble variety from Dão wine region. Encruzado grape is restricted very much to the DOC Dão, but watch this space. It is one of Portugal's absolutely top white grape varieties. The best examples have delicate aromas of roses and violets, light citrus notes, a touch of resin and, in certain conditions, intensely mineral notes. Amongst its virtues is the ability to maintain almost perfect balance between sugar and acidity, making serious, rich, structured wines with extraordinary ageing potential. It is used both as a single variety and as a star ingredient in many Dão blends. The Encruzado vine yields well, presenting no major problems in the vineyard. The general public is challenged to participate in this wine tasting and learn more about this special grape variety. The participation has a cost of 5€ and requires registration until 03/11 to the email
