Wine tastings in Chicago, San Francisco and New York next 18, 25 and 27 October and Perfect Pairings Portuguese - Food Truck on 23 October
Enhance knowledge about the Portuguese wines in the important North American market and demonstrate its gastronomic pairing potential are the main purposes of the promotional actions. This October will be held wine tastings in Chicago, San Francisco and New York on 18, 25 and 27 October. The event Perfect Portuguese Pairings - Food Truck will be held on 23 October in San Francisco. More than 450 Portuguese wines will be in three wine tastings. The first will be held on 18 October at the Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, the second on 25 October at the Merchants Exchange Building in San Francisco and the third on 27 October at the Prince George Ballroomm in New York. The three events include a Master Class held between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Directed by Evan Goldstein, the seminar focused on the theme "Modern Portugal: Exploring Contemporary Approaches, Classic Grapes and Wines Exciting" includes the presentation of 10 wines in each event. The Chicago and New York wine tastings will also have a special Producer Showcase between 14h30 and 17h30. On 23 October, ViniPortugal organizes the second edition of Perfect Pairings Portuguese - Food Truck at the Gallery 308 at Fort Mason in San Francisco, driven by the success of the first edition held in 2015. This event will be held two days before the Wines of Portugal Tasting for professionals in San Francisco, on 25 October. Perfect Pairings Portuguese - Food Truck is an interactive competition open to consumers. Guests are challenged to harmonize Portuguese wines with a selection of trailer gourmet food, commonly known as food truck. Three teams composed of catering professionals and retail, compete against each other to create the best matching of their menu with Portuguese wines in the competition. Consumers will vote on their favorite team while taste different wines and harmonization proposals. The event seeks to demonstrate the culinary versatility of Portuguese wines. Portuguese wines occupy the 9th place in value in the USA market, with 88 million euros, based on the specified import values. According with data from the INE, the Portuguese wine reached 69 million euros in 2015 of USA exports. Between 2011 and 2014 exports grew 25% and 16% in 2015.
