Wine tastings with the winners of Wines of Portugal Challenge 2016

In the upcoming months, the 29 wines awarded with Grand Gold medals in Wines of Portugal Challenge 2016 will be highlighted at Porto and Lisbon Tasting Rooms
The wines distinguished with Grand Gold medals in the Wines of Portugal Challenge 2016 will be available to the consumers during the wine tastings promoted by ViniPortugal at Wines of Portugal Tasting Rooms of Lisbon and Porto. The Wines of Portugal Challenge awards are the result of a thorough evaluation that lasted several days. More than 145 enologists and sommeliers from Portugal’s wine regions and specialists in different wine markets blind tasted 1350 Portuguese wines from 383 winemakers. 29 wines were awarded with Grand Golds medals among the 33 award-winning wines. These wines will be now divulged to consumer public, in wine tastings conducted and commented by prestigious speakers, as specified by the program for the cities of Porto and Lisbon. Porto Tasting Room: - Wine Tasting CVP 2016 Douro, speaker Manuel Lobo - Wine Tasting CVP 2016 Dão and Bairrada, speaker Vasco Penha Garcia - Wine Tasting CVP Vinho Verde, speaker Rui Cunha Sala Ogival, Lisbon: - Wine Tasting CVP 2016 Fortified, speaker Domingos Soares Franco - Wine Tasting CVP 2016 Alentejo, speaker Luis Cabral de Almeida - Wine Tasting CVP 2016 Lisbon and Tejo, speaker António Ventura Quinta do Portal Reserve red (2011), from the Douro wine region, was considered the "Best Wine of the Year". Among the awarded wines, is devoted special attention to the "Best Red Wine Varietal" - Messias Clássico Garrafeira, 2010 "DOP" - from Bairrada wine region and the “Best Varietal White Wine" - Quinta de Linhares Azal, 2015 "DOP". The award “Best Red Blend" was delivered to the wine Quinta do Portal Reserve red (2011) from Douro, and the wine Vallegre DOC Douro Reserve 2014 "DOP" also from Douro was considered the "Best White Blend" . In the category of fortified wines, the Tawny Port Wine 1967 from Messias was elected the “Best Fortified" and the Port Wine Tawny 40 YO Kokpe, from Sogevinus, the “Best Fortified Blend".
