4 Portuguese white wines are part of the best 50 for the British newspaper, The Times
The Times wine critic, Jane MaQuitty, has found the best wines on the supermarket shelves right now. The Portugal wines stood out and have accomplished positive reviews. The wine Azinhaga de Ouro Branco (2014), from Douro wine region, was considerate the “perfect buffet party white” and a perfect gift “from the high, wild, terraced hillsides of the Douro Valley in northern of Portugal”. Jane MacQuity also adds that this wine “oozes exotic, yellow-plum and lime-zest spice”. The wine Quinta de Azevedo (2014), from Vinhos Verdes wine region, “ticks all the boxes currently popular with many wine drinkers”. “Enjoy its floral, spritzy fruit with fish and chips on the beach”, recommends Jane MaQuitty. From Lisboa wine region, was highlighted the wine Cigarra Branco (2014). This“ unoaked and temperature-controlled, citrus and orange blossom-scented white oozes rich, spicy, steely, punchy Portuguese charm, making it the perfect summer buffet party white”. The Vinho Verde white wine Adega de Ponte de Lima (2014) was considerate “one of the best co-operative Vinhos Verdes in the country”. Jane MacQuity defines this wine as “beautiful, bold, zesty, lime blossom and freesia-perfumed white that is perfect with grilled sardines or crispy whitebait”.
