The renewed Sala Ogival was inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Agriculture in Terreiro do Paço
José Diogo Albuquerque, Secretary of State for Agriculture, inaugurated the renovated Sala Ogival of Lisboa, in Terreiro do Paço. The Wines of Portugal tasting room in Lisbon is dedicated to attract national and international visitors and enhance the knowledge about the Portuguese wines. Provide a better contact with the city and tourists was the primary objective of this renovation which make Sala Ogival a more friendly and functional space, offering to the visitors a charming environment for wine tasting, a “Tavern without really being "in the project author's words. Working on the promotion of an extended program with more thematic wine tastings at the weekends will stimulate a greater interaction between the visitors and wine, while a vast collection of books and magazines are available in order increase the awareness of wine lovers about Portuguese wines, its wine regions and history. The designer Eduardo Aires/White Studio was responsible for the restructuring and renovation of Sala Ogival. He justifies that guided his work by three structuring concepts: create a space like a library without being a library, a wine cellar without being a wine cellar and a tavern without really being. Eduardo Aires explains "was also our intention to open this space to the outside, with the extension of language and concept, to the arcades of the Terreiro do Paço, unifying which was initially our idea." "In this search for a very strong concept, tied to the Portuguese personality, a gesture of authenticity, we have created conditions for a permanent and warm invitation to come inside, enjoy and taste the Portuguese wines, with due rigor and freedom "he adds. The flooring and coatings of Sala Ogival library derived from the cork, offered by Corticeira Amorim symbolizing the strong connection between these two products, cork and wine. Jorge Monteiro, ViniPortugal CEO, says "we invite all the national consumers to visit the Sala Ogival de Lisboa, a premium room, in order to learn more about the Portuguese wines, its wine regions and the indigenous grapes. This is the guest room of the Wines of Portugal in Lisbon open to the Portuguese wine lovers, where is presented the diversity of Portuguese wines, training the visitors to discover, taste and identify different aromas and flavors. " In Sala Ogival, the visitors can purchase some of the Portuguese wines available for tasting.
