Wines of Portugal awarded at 2015 World Wine Awards

Portugal obtained 613 medals at the 2015 World Wine Awards, organized by the Decanter magazine
The 12th edition of the World Wine Awards had the participation of 15.929 wines which were judged for more than two hundred experts around the world. The Wines of Portugal achieved 613 medals including one international trophy, 9 regional trophies, 28 gold medals, 123 silver medals, 241 bronze medals and 211 commended awards. The wine Madeira Blandy´s Verdelho 1973 received the international trophy. France was the nation with more international trophies (8), having been ahead of Australia (6), South Africa (5) and Spain (4). In Portugal, the most awarded wine region was Porto and Douro with 271 medals, followed by the Alentejo with 115 medals and the Setúbal Peninsula with 45 medals. The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) is the world’s largest and most influential wine competition. Judged by the world’s wine experts, the results provide a comprehensive list of wine recommendations and international stockists.
