The Magazine Wine Enthusiast distinguishes every year the best wines with potential to evolve and improve for many years in the cellar. This year, the wine Casa Ferreirinha 2004 Tinto Barca Velha (Douro) is the highest ranked in 9th place with a rating of 99 points. The Douro Region was even highlighted on the “Top 100 Cellar Selection” 2014 with two more wines namely Quinta do Vale Meão 2011 Red in 19th place (96 points) and Quinta Vale Dona Maria 2011 Vinha do Rio in 40th place (96 points). In 2014, just over 17,000 wines were reviewed by the Wine Enthusiast editors, from that total; a mere six percent merited the Cellar Selection designation.
