Readers of 10best portal and fans of Portugal voted massively to choose Alentejo as best wine region in the world. Alentejo was the only Portuguese wine region on competition, one of twenty nominees chosen by an expert panel, for instance Champagne in France, Rioja in Spain and Napa Valley, California. Voting closed last August 4th and Portugal held the first place during the last weeks. For USA Today, Alentejo offers a “a great wine travel experience” and highlights the “terrific wines (mostly known for hardy red wines)” and the “rustic and authentic” Alentejo food. Portugal was already chosen by readers of USA Today and 10Best as “best European country” this year.
