Yesterday ViniPortugal organized a lunch for ambassadors, consuls and AICEP delegates in “Saint Benedict's Palace”, Lisboa.
More than 120 ambassadors, consuls and AICEP delegates tasted Portuguese wines during the lunch organized by ViniPortugal in “Saint Benedict's Palace”, the home of the Assembly of the Republic, the Portuguese parliament. The initiative aimed to promote Portuguese wine next to diplomats, key figures representing Portugal in several parts of the world and playing an important role spreading the best of Portugal. The lunch menu paired Chef Vitor Sobral and Alexandre Silva creations with wines selected by Rodolfo Tristão, sommelier. Also to promote Portuguese wines, Portuguese parliament was the stage of a gourmet canned fish tasting with the sponsorship of Docapesca company (that also sponsored the fish served at lunch). Jorge Monteiro, ViniPortugal CEO, considers “very important to have diplomats as allies in important markets since Portuguese wine is a symbol of Portugal in the world. Although Portuguese wine exports continue to increase in recent years, Portugal must define itself as “quality wine producer”. Consequently there’s still work to do: more than increase the volume exported, it’s essential to valorize the product and increase exports."
