Wines of Portugal will be found in important Chinese wine fairs. HKIWSF - Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair is open from today until Saturday and Prowein China (in Xangai) will run from 13th to 15th November. Shanghai will also receive the “Wines of Portugal Gala - Tasting the National Treasure of Portugal”, an event organized to strengthen the Wines of Portugal’s image of quality. In the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair, 24 Portuguese winemakers will attend the event and 47 will be present at Prowine China in order to develop their relationship with distributors, search customers, show their wines to trade and consumers and explore business opportunities in this market with such a growth potential. In the wine fairs, attendees will have the opportunity to join four workshops about Portuguese wines lead by Manuel Moreira, sommelier, and participate in guided wine tastings. To captivate Chinese elite to Portuguese wine consumption, ViniPortugal organizes the first Wines of Portugal Gala. Tasting the National Treasure of Portugal is the gala theme and ViniPortugal is expecting about 200 invited consumers, namely local businessmen, in an event with good Portuguese wines and food. Jorge Monteiro, ViniPortugal CEO, emphasizes “China has registered an interesting evolution in the number of Portuguese wine importation. In the first half of 2013, compared with last year, exportation to China grew 27.3% in value”. And he adds “China is still a priority market to Portuguese wines, because, outside Europe, is the fifth export market. Covering Hong Kong and Macao, this market represents nearly 20 million euros in value to national wine exports.
