São Paulo receives the wine event today.
Dirceu Viana Júnior will reveal his 50 Great Portuguese Wines for Brasil at São Paulo today, after tasted about 460 Portuguese wines. A selection combining quality and good-value wines, bearing in mind the Brazilian consumers, who Dirceu Viana Júnior plans to guide and educate. The nine wine regions are represented on the list, which shows the Portugal’s potential as a wine country. Most of wines are from Douro, Vinhos Verdes, Alentejo and Dão. A list still shows a great heterogeneity of prices: (24% below the R $100, 33% between 100 and 200.14% between 200 and 300 and 19% above 300%). The only South American and Portuguese speaker Master of Wine reveals that “it was clear, during my selection process that quality of Portuguese wines has never been as high as nowadays. We are in the right moment.” He adds, “I am confident that I did a great selection. I hope it serves as a catalyst for consumers, importers and distributors explore the richness and diversity that Portuguese wines have to offer”. The selection “includes inexpensive good wines, perfect for every day from the main Portuguese wine regions. We have modern, traditional and distinct wines with strong personality. Some of the well-known Portuguese winemakers are part of the list. I hope everyone can find many familiar names on this list, but also expect that many of them will be a revelation”. Portugal is one of the wine-production countries that export to Brazil and Jorge Monteiro, Viniportugal CEO, says that “to strengthen the market position in Brazil it’s the Viniportugal’s main purpose and increase 25% the sales in three years. Although Brazilian consumers usually choose South American wines, they normally are curious about Portuguese wines. We believe there's a lot of work to be done promoting Portuguese wines next to consumers and trade”. Jorge Monteiro adds “Select a Brazilian wine expert to Brazilian consumers is one of the Viniportugal’s goals. We know that a Brazilian wine expert has a great influence and his opinion lends credibility to Portuguese wines image in Brazil”. 50 Great Portuguese Wines for Brazil Covela Escolha Branco - William Smith & Lima Lda, 2012, Branco Quinta da Levada - Quinta da Levada – Sociedade Agrícola Unipessoal, Lda, 2012, Branco Soalheiro – VinuSoalleirus, Lda, 2012, Branco Quinta de Gomariz Grande Escolha – Quinta de Gomariz, Lda, 2012, Branco Casa da Senra – Abrigueiros - Produções Agrícolas e Turismo, S.A, 2012, Branco Tapada dos Monges - Manuel Da Costa Carvalho Lima & Filhos, Lda, 2012, Branco Muros Antigos – Anselmo Mendes Vinhos, 2012, Branco Portal do Fidalgo – Provam, Lda, 2011, Branco Muros de Melgaço – Anselmo Mendes Vinhos, 2011, Branco Royal Palmeira – IdealDrinks, Serviços e Distribuição, Lda, 2009, Branco Quinta da Fonte do Ouro Encruzado – Sociedade Agrícola Boas Quintas Lda, 2011, Branco Morgado de Santa Catherina – Companhia das Quintas - Vinhos, S.A., 2010, Branco Redoma Reserva - Niepoort (Vinhos) S.A , 2011, Branco Conceito Branco - Conceito Vinhos lda, 2010, Branco Cortes de Cima Trincadeira – Cortes de Cima, S.A., 2011, Tinto Terra D'Alter Touriga Nacional – Terras de Alter, Companhia de Vinhos, 2010, Tinto Herdade da Pimenta Grande Escolha – Logowines SA, 2010, Tinto Tinto da Talha Grande Escolha - Roquevale, S.A., 2009, Tinto Canto X – Herdade da Madeira Velha, Agro Alimentar, Lda., 2009, Tinto Cartuxa – Cartuxa - Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, 2009, Tinto Cortes de Cima Reserva – Cortes de Cima, S.A., 2009, Tinto Dona Maria Reserva – Júlio Bastos - Dona Maria, 2008, Tinto Conde D'Ervideira Private Selection Tinto – Ervideira, Sociedade Agrícola, Lda, 2008,Tinto Aliança Bairrada Reserva – Aliança Vinhos de Portugal, SA, 2011, Tinto Vinha Pan – Luís Pato, 2009, Tinto Marquesa de Alorna Reserva - Quinta da Alorna Vinhos Lda, 2009, Tinto Julia Kemper – Cesce Agrícola, S.
