Today Toronto receives the Wines of Portugal Annual Tasting. Portuguese wine producers attending the event will also join the Wines of Portugal Annual Tastings in the USA: New York (30th April), Washington DC (2nd May), Chicago (7th May) and San Francisco (9th May). In all wine tastings will be present a total of 80 wine producers. “USA and Canada are two strategic markets to Wines of Portugal, for their potential market growth. USA, specifically, is an even more important market, because they are a showcase for the rest of the world – what they do have effects in other markets. USA is the largest importer of wine in value. Due to the USA size, ViniPortugal has to extend Wines of Portugal events to several cities, beyond the two cities where we have a bigger presence”, explains Jorge Monteiro, ViniPortugal CEO. “Both Canada and US markets continue to be Wines of Portugal’s priority markets. Canada was the best market in Portuguese wine exports, considering average price and USA continues with high growth potential and opportunities for Portuguese wines, positioning itself as the fourth main destination for Portuguese wine exports, having grown 8.4% in value in 2012.”, enhances the ViniPortugal CEO.
