Awards
23 May 12
Two Portuguese wines have been achieved the Gold Oustanding medal in the latest edition of the International Wine and Spirits Competition. The results were announced yesterday and Portugal won 241 medals.
The jury competition awarded 8 Portuguese wines with a gold medal, but the quality of two of these wines obliged the jury to consider the Porto Sandeman Tawny 20 Years from Sogrape and Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage 1998 from Warre's for a Gold Outstanding medal. Only 14 wines across the world were awarded the judges’ top medal of Gold outstanding. Portuguese wines have also achieved 18 Silver Outstanding medals and 87 silver medals. The bronze medal was reached by 128 Portuguese wines. Portugal won 241 medals. The International Wine and Spirits Competition is a through a two-stage judging process: blind tasting followed by “detailed technical analysis” undertaken by an independent laboratory. The gold medals list is shown below. Other prizes can be searched here.
