The award is based on the winemaker’s performance in the contest 2011 edition. This year Sogrape wines won 28 of the 29 possible medals. In addition to the Sogrape winemaker trophy, the company won the Trophy for Port with Port Wine Sandeman 20 Years Old Tawny. Francisco Ferreira (CEO from Sogrape) considers these trophies as a stimulus "for continuous excellence and innovation as condition for sustained growth.
