Portugal gets Gold at Mundus Vini competition

Five Portuguese wines won Grand Gold Medals in the Germany's most important wine competition: Mundus Vini.
Douro wines got the entire spotlight. Three Grand Gold Medals for Port Tawnies (Porto Réccua Tawny 10, Porto Santelmo Tawny 10 years and Villar d'Allen Tawny 20 years) one for a Late Bottle Vintage (Quinta do Pego LBV 2006 unfiltered) and one to the red table wine Quinta da Sequeira Douro Great Reserve 2007. The Gold Medal is awarded when a wine gets a rating higher than 95 points. The jury gathered wine experts from 48 different countries. This year were awarded 33 Grand Gold Medals. This year, Portugal won 51 gold medals and 83 silver medals. The winning wines were mostly reds. Two rosés got the silver medal. More information on the site Mundus Vini.
