Three winners in Expovinis

Three Portuguese wines placed first on the competitions held by ExpoVinis. The largest wine fair in Brazil started Tuesday, the 26th, in Sao Paulo.
In the Category "Other White Grapes", the best choice was Morgado de Santa Catherina - Bucelas Arinto Reserve (2008), Lisbon. In the "Old World" Reds, Roquette Cazes 2007, from Douro was the most appreciated. A Madeira, the 10 Year Old Justin's was considered the most valuable "Sweet Fortified". In the eight categories available to foreign competitors, Portugal has still names in the 5 most voted for: Casa de Sarmento Maria Gomes (Other White Grapes); Quinta de Santa Maria Poertento (Sweet Fortified); Herdade dos Grous Reserva Branco Regional (Other White Grapes); Mouchão Ancient Harvest (Old World Red). Although the fair has started Tuesday, the vote was made two weeks ago, when the judges gathered to taste 156 wine samples from different origins and choose the ten best of this year’s show. Only wines submitted by exhibitors and producers participated in the contest. The ten categories included in the Top of ExpoVinis this year were: national sparkling wine, imported sparkling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, other white grapes, pink, Brazilian red, new world red, old world reds, fortified and sweet.
