The Wine Enthusiast top 100 of 2010 includes 5 Portuguese Wines.
In the11th place, the highlight goes to the Quinta da Rapariga Reserva 2008 from Alentejo wine region with 94 points (out of 100). Together in the 45th and 46th position come the Niepoort’s 2009 Redoma Reserva (Douro) and the Quinta da Bacalhôa Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, both with 93 points. With 92 points and in the 56th position arises Van Zellers’ 2008 Rufo (Douro), being the Portuguese list closed in the 96th place by the 2005 Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Port, with 92 points. The criteria used by the magazine for drawing up this list go beyond the grades given by experts in the tasting of wines. Among other factors, are taken into account the representativeness of the wine in its class, its uniqueness, the value for money, the ability to express its natural terroir and also a more abstract factor that relates to the new consumer trends and industry.
