Portugal achieved 279 medals in 2019 Spring Edition of Mundus Vini, the most important competition in Germany
A total of 279 Portuguese wines were awarded in the 22th edition of the prestigious competition Mundus Vini. Portugal has accomplished 5 Grand Gold medals - the highest distinction of the competition. Douro was the most awarded wine region with 64 medals. Portugal achieved 144 gold medals and 105 silver medals. Italy was the most awarded country (678 medals), followed by Spain (620 medals), France (343 medals) and Portugal (279 medals). Mundus Vini was founded 20 years ago by Meininger Verlag publishing house and has become one of the world's most significant wine competitions. Nearly 200 international wine experts from 50 countries spent the four days critically judging almost 7,200 wines from more than 150 wine growing regions all over the world. Wines of Portugal participates in the 5th Global Wine Tourism Conference

The 5th Global Wine Tourism Conference this year takes place in Portugal, from the 8th to the 10th of September, in Monsaraz.

Wines of Portugal collaborates with Portugal’s Tourism Institute in this initiative through the organization of a Masterclass, which will take place on the first day of the event (September 8th), from 12:00 to 14:30, where there will be a Wine Tasting of the 14 Portuguese Wine Regions addressed to around 50 international participants who will be at the Conference.
