Wines of Portugal highlighted in the Top 100 of Wine Enthusiast magazine
Awards
30 November 17
Six Portuguese wines were distinguished on the Top 100 of one of the most prestigious wine magazines in the world
Taylor Fladgate NV 325 Anniversary (Port) reached the 9th place and is the best rated Portuguese wine on the list. Roger Ross considers this port “a superb blend of aged tawny Ports, blended to celebrate the company's 325th anniversary. Filled with rich fruit, it has great depth and spicy richness although it is also impressively fresh. Dried fruits and red plums are lifted with a hint of smoky wood and good acidity.” This year, Wine Enthusiast’s tasting panel reviewed more than 23.000 wines from 17 countries around the globe. This yearly roundup of the best-of-the-best showcases the incredible diversity of high-scoring wines on the market. Each was chosen for a myriad of reasons, including high quality-to-price ratios, good market availability, and an x-factor that can’t be precisely defined. Portuguese wines in the Wine Spectator Top 100 # 9º: Taylor’s 325º Aniversário Edição Limitada Vinho do Porto – 97 pontos # 13º: Cartuxa 2014 Pêra-Manca Branco, Alentejo – 95 pontos # 24º: Monte da Ravasqueira 2014 Vinha das Romãs Tinto, Alentejo – 94 pontos # 34º: Mouchão 2012 Ponte das Canas Tinto, Alentejo – 93 pontos # 56º: Quinta da Rede 2015 Grande Reserva Branco, Douro – 93 pontos # 74º: Aveleda 2015 Reserva da Família Branco, Bairrada – 92 pontos
