Six Portuguese wines were distinguished on the Top 100 of one of the most prestigious wine magazines in the world
José Maria da Fonseca 2014 red, from Alentejo wine region, reached the 5th place and is the best rated Portuguese wine on the list. Roger Ross considers this “wine is packed with firm, generous tannins and ripe, juicy black fruits. It has some oak aging that has given the wine a polished feel. With its concentration, structure and final acidity, it will age well.” This year, Wine Enthusiast’s tasting panel reviewed more than 22.00 wines from 15 countries around the globe. This yearly roundup of the best-of-the-best showcases the incredible diversity of high-scoring wines on the market. Each was chosen for a myriad of reasons, including high quality-to-price ratios, good market availability, and an x-factor that can’t be precisely defined.
