The competition that every year distinguishes on-trade wines has attributed 95 medals to the Wines of Portugal. In the winners list, 17 wines received gold medals and 31 were classified with silver medals. Portugal also totaled 21 bronze medals and 27 “Commended” medals. The wines Justino's Madeira, Terrantez Vintage (1978), from Madeira wine region and Quinta do Crasto, Superior, White (2013) from Douro wine region were awarded with gold medals and also received the Critics' Choice medal. The Critics’ Choice Trophies are given to wines that the competition tasting teams simply fall in love with, whatever their price or style. The 2,500 wines sent for the competition were evaluated by the vast panel of judges from various sectors on-trade, Master Sommelier and Master of Wine in the UK.
