Wines of Portugal got the spotlight of Sweden

Annual tasting and several actions promoted over the month in order to increase knowledge and awareness about the Portuguese wines, in this important market. The annual tasting will be held at 25th May, Monday, in Stockholm.
May is a strategic month to Wines of Portugal promotion in Sweeden. In this way, ViniPortugal is organizing several actions in order to increase the knowledge and enhance the awareness about the Portuguese wines. The Wines of Portugal annual tasting will be held on 25th May, at Grand Hotel’s Winter Garden, in Stockholm. The promotional campaign of Portuguese wines was started on 3rd May with the support of Wines of Portugal to the Swedishchampionship. The competition has elected Johan Nilson as the best sommelier of the year. During the annual tasting, on May 22nd and 23rd, in Stockholm and Malmo, will be organized training workshops of level II and III with the wine educator Marta Galamba. The event will also provide a week entirely dedicated to Portugal, in a high quality restaurant. The annual tastings will bring together 40 winemakers. The wine tasting program starts at 12 pm with a Master Class targeted to journalists, sommeliers and opinion leaders. The wine tasting with more than 400 Portuguese wines will be held from 2 pm and 5pm to the trade and social media and from 5 pm to the consuming public. On the same day, will be held a class with the enologist Jorge Moreira addressed to invited sommeliers and vinskribenter at Grand Hotel. During the class, Jorge Moreira by tasting 11 wines will prove the diversity and the aging potential of the Portuguese wines. In the days following the annual tasting, May 26th and 27th, ViniPortugal will increase the component of education/training with the organization of Academic training sessions (level II and III) at the Stockholm School of Restaurangakademien and at the Gustibus Wine&Spirit School in Malmo. The training workshops will be leaded by the wine educator Marta Galamba with the purpose of to raise knowledge about Portugal and the Portuguese wines. The trainees will be guided on a tour through the different wine regions, knowing the different styles of wine. During the classes will be tasted about twenty wines. At the end of the Wines of Portugal Academy, trainees will be evaluated entitled to Intermediate and Advanced level degrees. Simultaneously, will be organized promotions in the Swedish restaurant Hotellet, a cozy space in the luxurious area of Stockholm. It features a modern kitchen with background in European cuisine, but with influences from around the world. The chef will suggest a tasting menu pairing Portuguese cuisine with a list of wines that will includes Portuguese wines. The Portuguese week begin on 26th May and runs until Saturday, 30th May. Earlier this month, the Wines of Portugal were featured in the "Swedish Sommelier Organisation", in the final of "Swedish Championship". This competition elects the best "sommelier" of the year in Sweden, which is positioned as one of the most prestigious events for wine professionals. About 300 professionals attend every year to this event in Sweden. ViniPortugal joined this event because is an opportunity to demonstrate the quality and diversity of Portuguese wines to a restricted audience of the wine sector in the Swedish market. The final "Swedish Championship" was held in Stockholm Grand Hotel, on 3rd May. Several national wines, selected and presented by wine critic Rui Falcão, were exclusively served during the gala dinner.
