The Portuguese winemakers can now make their registration in the 2015 Wines of Portugal Competition. The applications should be formalized from the day March 2 in the website www.concursovinhosdeportugal.pt. The 2015 Wines of Portugal Competition will be held on 11-13 May at CNEMA in Santarem. For this competition are challenged wines made in Portugal entitled with Designation of Origin (DOP) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), sparkling wines, fortified wines and varietal wines and/or vintage year. The Wines of Portugal Competition is annually organized by ViniPortugal in partnership with CNEMA, the IVV, IVBAM, IVDP, IVV, ANDOVI and Revista de Vinhos. The main purpose of this initiative is to establish itself as an international event with high relevance exclusively dedicated to enhance the visibility of the Portuguese wines in key export markets. The 2014 edition bought together 1070 wines from all national wine regions, and that unequivocally demonstrate the quality and diversity of national production. In total the jury will have more than 125 participants of which 100 are Portuguese, most of them winemakers, and 24 foreigners. After three days of wine tasting the Grand Jury will meet and select the Grand Gold Medals.
