Wines of Portugal awarded in Ultimate Wine Challenge 2014

The 5th Ultimate Wine Challenge Edition integrated 47 Portuguese wines on the winners list. Among them, six wines were considered excellent, with scores above 90 points.
The Ultimate Wine Challenge was held on last June, in Westchester County, New York. The competition was led by 10 judges, among them the founder of UBC, F. Paul Pacult, assisted by Sean Ludford. Portugal was distinguished with 47 awards on the competition that bring together more than 850 wines, around the world. In the category “Portugal Reds” was highlighted with the qualification of “Chairman's Trophy”, headed for the best wines of the competition, the wine Quinta de Lemos, Touriga Nacional, Dão, from 2009 harvest, with 96 points. In the category of White Blends from Europe, the Wines of Portugal totaled 3 finalists, all with 91 points: Estreia Branco, Vinho Verde 2013; Monte da Ravasqueira, Reserva Branco Alentejo 2013; andTapada do Barão, Colheita Seleccionada White Blend Alentejo 2013. In the category of “Other White Varietals” of the world the wine Terra Silvestre Arinto Tejo 2013 was finalist with 91 points. The Ultimate Wine Challenge is considered one of the most important competition of the USA, being recognized for the quality of the tasting methodology used and for the professionalism/experience of the jury panel.
