The Wines of Portugal Challenge judges were invited to attend three Master Classes, organized by ViniPortugal with the support of Revista de Vinhos (a Portuguese wine magazine). The master classes will be held at Wine Embassy Room, Wine and Vine Institute, Lisboa. The Master Classes “White Varieties”, “Red Varieties” and “Old Vines” aim to improve the knowledge about Portuguese wine specificities and history as well as their ageing properties to wine judges, specially the 25 international experts present in the challenge. Programme: 13th May – “White Varieties” - Nuno Oliveira Garcia talks about Portuguese white varieties. 14th May – “Red Varieties” - Luis Antunes will highlight the diversity of Portuguese red varieties. 15th May – “Old Vines” - João Paulo Martins will talk about the magic of old vines. Jorge Monteiro, CEO of ViniPortugal, highlights «If in 2013 the Master Classes themes chosen were “The Magic of Alvarinho”, “The power and elegance of Touriga Nacional” or “Great Old Wines”, this year it won’t be less interesting or educational with “White Varieties”, “Red Varieties” or “Old Vines”. For these Master Classes, Revista de vinhos selected a wide range of wines available in the classes with the help of companies that submitted wines to the challenge”.
