Wines of Portugal wine tasting room in Porto will receive a wine lecture about Encruzado grape variety on the 25th at 6.30pm. The wine lecture has been delayed and the fresh date will be announced later.
The potential of Encruzado grape variety will be revealed in the lecture next Friday, 25th October at 6.30pm in Palácio da Bolsa, Porto. The wine lecture has been delayed and the fresh date will be announced later. After the lecture, a dinner will be held at “O Comercial”, a restaurant in Palácio da Bolsa. The event is organized by ViniPortugal. Luís Lourenço from Quinta dos Roques, Joana Fontes da Cunha from Quinta de Mondego and Manuel Vieira from Quinta dos Carvalhais will talk about wines produced from Encruzado grape variety and Luís Costa from RTP (Portugese National Television) will moderate the debate. Then every attendees will taste several wines and taste some gastronomic specialties prepared by “O Comercial” restaurant. Also, there will be the opportunity to join the dinner and taste a menu especially designed to pair with the Encruzado wines. Encruzado is one of Portugal's absolutely top white grape varieties. The best examples have delicate aromas of roses and violets, light citrus notes, a touch of resin and, in certain conditions, intensely mineral notes. Amongst its virtues is the ability to maintain almost perfect balance between sugar and acidity, making serious, rich, structured wines with extraordinary ageing potential. It is used both as a single variety and as a star ingredient in many Dão blends. The Encruzado vine yields well, presenting no major problems in the vineyard. Registrations to the event can be made by the e-mail sala.ogival.porto@viniportugal.pt and cost 5€ or 20€ (with dinner). More information may be requested to Daniela Macedo, through this same e-mail or phone 22 33 23 072/96 637 11 02.
