Portuguese wines obtained 18 gold medals and 54 silver medals. Douro, especially with Port wines, was the wine region with more medals, second by Península de Setúbal and Lisboa wine region. Besides Port, red and white wines, a rose wine and a Madeira got both a silver medal. The contest was held in Paris and was organized by the French Winemakers Union. Around 3900 wines from different wine regions worldwide were tasted.
